i don't know how hardcore i will end up playing sw:tor when it comes out? i really don't. there are many factors which will dictate that, how good the game is, how busy work is, how much time the missus will allow me to play, lol, and all sorts of other variables i have yet to encounter. i think as we grow older and our responsibilities change, so sadly does our ability and desire to play mmo's and other games as intensely as we used too? i know it does for me anyhow. that said however, i do still intend to play sw:tor pretty heavily, and to play it well. i have always been a decent enough gamer, and have always enjoyed being as good at them as i can be, time alone will not stop me from trying to be the best at it that i can be. does this then make me an elitist player? i honestly don't think so, and nor would i ever wish to be. i think there is a very distinct difference between being an elite player, to being an elistist one. an elite player is merely a top player, known for being very skilled and knowledgeable about the game and their class and their chosen game play style. an elitist is the same up to this point, but from here the two differ greatly in my opinion. read more... welcome to rig! the rig community the respect in gaming community (or "rig" for short) is a community that was founded by a group of like-minded individuals who committed themselves to bringing back friendly and respectful attitudes towards each other in the realm of online gaming. what started as a single topic on the official star wars: the old republic ("swtor") forums quickly ballooned into a full-fledged community comprised of many individuals all dedicated to this same cause. the main idea behind it all is that we will try our very best to bring as many members of the rig community together on a server, or multiple servers (if needed) in swtor in order to try and create a friendly, helpful, respectful and fun atmosphere in the game. read more... the many implementations of respect aldemarran friday, 08 july 2011 02:12 my goals for this article: to help riggers avoid becoming “respect snobs”, in other words to help us avoid that nearly paradoxical form of elitism in which we measure everyone according to our standards for “non-elitism” and pass judgment on them. to foster inclusiveness even in the presence of disagreement. to make it easier to understand, accept, and respect the many differing opinions on what constitutes respect in gaming. to generate further discussion on this topic in these forums especially because i cannot present everything here or even present every detail of the topics i touch on. i also understand that there are true “trolls” out there who, despite whatever excuse they may present, really are motivated to cause unpleasantness for other players. i am in no way attempting to apologize or excuse such disrespectful intentions or behaviors. read more... more articles... respect: what?
